The Dormont Beat of the River Annan

The Estate has fishing on Dormont Beat of The River Annan which is included in your stay when booking the Holiday Cottage during the fishing season.

However when the cottage is not occupied, fishing for sea trout and salmon is let through Fishpal.  If you cannot find any dates on Fishpal this will be because the Cottage is fully occupied for the fishing season.

Fishing for grayling can be booked through Fishpal

Catch returns for the Dormont Beat since 1957 show a steady increase in average salmon and grilse numbers over time and, whilst sea trout numbers have declined over the last 20 years, the long term picture still looks good.

The Scottish Government is currently consulting on making the killing of all Atlantic Salmon illegal.  The River Annan District Fisheries Board has asked that all proprietors on the River Annan operate a catch and release policy which Dormont has adopted and anglers on the Dormont Beat are asked to release all Salmon and Sea Trout caught.

The Coarse fishery at Dormont Lake is now closed.
