Sawmill Cottage is a cosy comfortable stone built single storey cottage set in the heart of Dormont Estate on the banks of the river Annan, offering self catering accomodation. The cottage is sittuated amidst woods and farmland, well away from the road but with easy access. There is an abundance of local wildlife, red squirrels, deer , otters and badgers are regularly seen by visitors. There is plenty of walking in the picturesque Dumfriesshire countryside, lots of good places to eat locally and interesting places to visist. Dumfries town, Moffat and Annan are easily accessable for those who like to shop. Dormont is also only a short distance from the Motorway network.
The Cottage offers good basic accommodation and comprises:-
- Bedrooms 1 with a double bed, and Bedroom 2 with 2 singles comfortably sleeping 4 with a bed settee for a further 2 guests
- Sitting Room with an open fire, TV, and dining area
- The Kitchen is equipped with a cooker, fridge and microwave and all the necessary utensils and crockery, there is also a freezer in an outhouse
- Bathroom with bathand shower, wc and wash hand basin
- The property is heated by electric night storage heaters and the water heated electrically.
- Blankets and bedcovers are provided but visitors must provide their own bed linen, pillow cases, table linen and dish towels
If your holiday is between 25th February and 15th November fishing on a 1 mile stretch of the river Annan for 2 rods is included in the price of the accommodation.
Bookings run from Sunday to Sunday as the cottage is usually booked by anglers and as there is no fishing allowed on Sunday. This has traditionally been the changeover day but in the case of out-of-season bookings, this may be varied to suit individual requirements. Visitors are asked to arrive no sooner then 2.00pm at the start of their holiday and to leave no later than 10.30am at the end.
The price quoted includes VAT and all fuel and electricity, but does not include any form of insurance. However there is no deposit to pay when you book your holiday you simply pay the full amount when you arrive.
Visitors should be aware that shooting takes place from time to time on the estate and that nearby fields are often stocked with farm livestock. Whilst visitors may bring their dogs, they are asked to keep them on a lead at all times.
